The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is investing in its player members and their communities by awarding 165 charitable grants to support youth camps across the country.
Through the new NFLPA Player Camp Grant Program, each eligible player received a $1,000 grant from their union, helping offset the costs to host a free, non-contact youth football or education camp in their hometown or teamcity. Access to these free events provides meaningful opportunities for kids, regardless of background, to participate, develop their football skills, build confidence and learn valuable lessons directly from role models within their own community.
"Players never forget the people and communities that helped them get where they are. These camps are an opportunity to give back, share what they've learned, and help create opportunities for the next generation," NFLPA executive director JC Tretter said. "The impact goes far beyond football and helps strengthen the communities that supported these players long before they ever stepped onto an NFL field."
To further support the important off-field work of players, the NFLPA's staff also provided on-site volunteers at several player camps and continued its Offseason Community MVP campaign, which spotlights player's philanthropic work across the union's digital media platforms.
"Being able to come home and host a camp like this means a lot to me. This camp wasn't about football, but technology, which has always been a passion of mine," New Orleans Saints defensive back and two-time NFLPA Community MVP Justin Reid said. "I wanted to create an opportunity for kids in the community to access a path they might not have had the chance to. Working with the kids, seeing them excited to learn new skills and just have fun was such a rewarding experience."
Through this initiative, the NFLPA is continuing its commitment to empower players in support of their efforts to enhance their communities and make a positive impact beyond the game.

The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) has made significant progress in strengthening its Competitions calendar, providing greater certainty for Member Associations, commercial partners and supporters across the continent.
The increasingly stable calendar reflects CAF's continued commitment to strengthening its existing Competitions while developing important new properties that will createadditional opportunities at senior and youth level.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027 is scheduled from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with the qualification competition to get under way from September 2026.
South Africa to Host TotalEnergies Super Cup 2027
The TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup will be staged in Tshwane, South Africa between TotalEnergies CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup holders USM Alger on Sunday, 8 November 2026 at 15h00 local time (13h00 GMT).
CAF Competitions 2026-27: Ghana, Egypt, Senegal, Morocco to host Competitions
There has also been important progress in CAF's Youth Competitions, which remain central to the organisation's football development strategy.
The TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 is scheduled to be staged in Ghana in February and March next year, while Morocco will host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 in April and May.
Egypt is to host the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations 2027, which will serve as the qualification tournament for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
CAF is additionally studying the feasibility of establishing a new CAF U-17 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, with a view to launching the Competition next year should the necessary sporting and organisational requirements be met.
The proposed tournament would further strengthen CAF's investment in women's football and create another important competitive pathway for young female players across the continent.
Morocco will host the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2026 from 12-21 October, while the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations 2026 will follow in Senegal in November.
Work has also advanced on the proposed African Nations League, with the competition format discussed within the CAF Executive Committee. The project forms part of CAF's broader strategy to create more meaningful and commercially attractive international football for Member Associations.
CAF Interclub 2026/27
At club level, the draws for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2026/27 preliminary rounds have been completed, giving participating clubs a clear roadmap for the new continental season.
The first preliminary round of both competitions will get under way from 4-6 September 2026, with the return legs scheduled for 11-13 September.
The progress across these competitions is an important step in CAF's objective of creating a more stable and predictable African football calendar.
Greater certainty around dates and host countries allows Member Associations to plan more effectively, provides players with clearer competitive pathways and gives broadcasters, sponsors and supporters greater visibility around CAF's major events.

Undefeated Russian lightweight Mikhail Grigoryan is targeting his tenth consecutive professional win when he faces Ugandan Henry Oteba at IBA.PRO 20 in Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia, on 14 August.
The ten-round contest will have the vacant IBF Youth Lightweight title on the line, adding another championship bout to the IBA.PRO 20 card.
Grigoryan, who holds a perfect 9-0 professional record withtwo knockout victories, is confident that the support around him will drive him to another win.
"I am sure we are going to have a very good fight, and I am confident that I will win because so many people are behind me, supporting me and helping me," Grigoryan said. "Losing is not an option for me. What I have been through, many people could not even imagine.
"Henry, welcome to Russia! I hope you have prepared well for this fight because it is going to be the toughest fight of your life."
Grigoryan enjoyed a successful amateur career, becoming a two-time European youth champion and three-time Russian youth champion, as well as earning multiple medals at international competitions.
He has since made an impressive, undefeated transition to the professional ranks. Grigoryan last appeared at IBA.PRO 16 in Serpukhov in April, where he defeated the experienced Filipino Jeo Santisima by unanimous decision.
Oteba now stands between the 22-year-old Russian and a tenth professional victory, with the Ugandan travelling to Naberezhnye Chelny for their IBF Youth title contest.
IBA.PRO 20 features a strong international card on 14 August. In the main event, 2025 IBA World Champion Djambulat Bizhamov (RUS) faces unbeaten Vladimir Mironchikov (SRB), a World Championships bronze medallist, for the vacant IBF European Super Middleweight title.
Another IBF European title will be contested between undefeated Chingiz Natyrov (RUS) and 2019 IBA World Champion Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov (UZB), while unbeaten Sergey Lubkovich (RUS) takes on Khavasbek Asadulaev (UZB) in a ten-round welterweight contest.

(August 7, 2026) -Commissioners representing the nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) athletic conferences gathered in Washington, D.C., for the HBC4Us Summer Meeting to reaffirm their collective commitment to strengthening HBCU athletics through collaboration, advocacy, and strategic leadership.
The meetingfocused on identifying shared priorities that will enhance the student athlete experience, elevate the visibility of HBCU athletics, and ensure HBCU conferences maintain a strong voice in shaping the future of intercollegiate athletics.

Celebrating Student Athlete Excellence
HBC4Us will continue recognizing the outstanding achievements of HBCU student athletes by enhancing the HBCU Football Poll and related honors. The organization also announced plans to establish annual HBCU Athlete of the Year awards in both men's and women's categories to celebrate excellence in competition, academics, leadership, and community engagement.
Additionally, commissioners will collaborate with Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) leadership from across the conferences to develop shared HBCU student athlete priorities and strengthen the student athlete voice.
Expanding Professional and Educational Opportunities
The commissioners committed to leveraging existing partnerships with professional sports organizations and national stakeholders to create meaningful educational and career opportunities for HBCU students and institutions.
These partnerships include opportunities connected to initiatives such as the HBCU NBA All Star Experience, the Legacy Bowl, the Black College Football Hall of Fame Game, and other programs that provide national exposure while preparing students for careers in athletics and beyond.

Advancing Women's Flag Football
Recognizing the NCAA's designation of women's flag football as an NCAA-sponsored championship sport beginning with the 2026-27 academic year, HBC4Us announced its commitment to advancing the sport across its member conferences.
Commissioners discussed the development of an HBCU Women's Flag Football initiative that will join together to showcase the sport while creating new competitive opportunities for female student athletes. The alliance will explore the creation of an annual HBC4Us Women's Flag Football event designed to highlight the growth of the sport, foster collaboration among member institutions, and position HBCUs as national leaders in women's flag football.
This initiative reflects HBC4Us' commitment to expanding opportunities for women in athletics while embracing one of the fastest growing sports in collegiate competition.
Showcasing HBCU Football
The commissioners emphasized the importance of beginning the football season by celebrating two of college football's premier HBCU events:
* The MEAC(r)/SWAC(r) Challenge
* The CIAA(r) /SIAC(r) Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic
These nationally recognized contests continue to serve as signature showcases for HBCU football while highlighting the excellence and traditions of Black college athletics.
Strengthening National Representation
Recognizing the rapidly evolving landscape of college athletics, HBC4Us reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining active representation within NCAA governance, national committees, and other influential organizations. MOORHEAD, Minn. - A pair of former big leaguers now calling Gary SouthShore home and the third double-digit win streak by an American Association of Professional Baseball (AAPB)team this season (this time, Winnipeg) highlight happenings around the league this week. As the circuit enters the 30-games-remaining stretch, AAPB broadcasts are, as always, available free for live viewing on AABaseball.tv.
Here are 10 (or so) Things to Know about the AAPB this week:
* Two weeks ago, the Winnipeg Goldeyes were, pardon the pun, floundering a few games under .500. But an 11-game win streak (improbably, the third double-digit string by an AAPB club this season!) has them solidly in playoff position. The skein matches the longest in team history, set in 2014.
* Superstud Jose Sermo continued his assault on AAPB pitchers in July, blasting 11 home runs, driving in 36 runs and posting a 1.516 POS to earn AAPB Rawlings Batter of the Month. Milwaukee's Jhordany Mezquita won three games, pitching to a 1.88 ERA and fanning 24 to take Rawlings Pitcher of the Month honors.
* Gary SouthShore dipped into the former MLB player pool for the stretch run, with two key acquisitions this week:
- Six-year big leaguer Zach Plesac, who won 27 games with Cleveland and the Los Angeles Angels from 2019-2024, made his debut with the RailCats on Sunday, tossing two perfect innings and whiffing two.
- They also added former Florida Marlin, Sioux City Explorer and Cleburne Railroader Osvaldo Martinez. Martinez played in 34 games in the Bigs in 2010 and 2011, and slashed .291/.367/.381 in 93 games for the X's in 2024, his last AAPB action.
* Stolen bases are a big weapon in the AAPB, and the Sioux City Explorers are at the forefront of the thievery. CF Austin Davis tied a league single-game record with five in his club's 8-7 loss to Fargo-Moorhead Sunday. Davis now has 58 SB in 2026; the league record is 71 (Bryan Torres, Milwaukee, 2023). The X's, after six more bags last night, are up to 217 steals this season, also within striking distance of the league record of 275 that they set last year.
* We previewed it here last week, and wrestling superstar Braun Strowman came through, assisting those affected by recent tornadoes in Wisconsin by leading a relief drive at Franklin Field last Thursday.
* Thursday's Cancer Awareness Night in Sioux Falls will have extra special meaning to the Canaries team and fans, as the cause hits closer to home. Ryan Richardson, who pitched in 47 games for the club last year after four years with Kane County, was diagnosed with the disease in spring training 2026. Fans can bid now on special "Ribbons for Ryan" game-worn jerseys, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Ryan.
* The Canaries will also hold their final Kids Camp of the season on Saturday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Kids 11-14 receive two hours of professional instruction from their favorite Sioux Falls Canaries players, making it the perfect opportunity to sharpen their skills, have fun, and create lasting memories at the Birdcage.
* With about 30 games left in the AAPB season, the home run and RBI races are two-man affairs, and it happens to be the same two men. Joshua Mears of Lake Country (25 HR, 72 RBI) and Jose Sermo of Fargo-Moorhead (24 HR, 73 RBI) battle it out in those two categories, while Mears's .340 batting average puts him narrowly atop the league, keeping the triple crown alive for the DockHounds' outfielder.
* Righthander Kevin Herget, who pitched for Fargo-Moorhead in 2021 and has pitched in parts of five seasons in the Majors, returned to MLB with the Mets, hurling a perfect inning at Citi Field against the Marlins on Saturday. He's the 15th AAPB alum to play in a big-league game in 2026. He was subsequently returned to AAA Syracuse but remains in the mix for the team this season.
* Former Sioux Falls Canaries broadcaster J.P. Shadrick is the new play-by-play voice of the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced on Tuesday. Shadrick was the Canaries' lead broadcaster and primary baseball information contact in 2005.
* Media interest in AAPB remains strong. Some of the recent articles on teams include:
- The Winnipeg Free Press notes that Goldeyes pitcher Luke Boyd is "making [the] most out of his visit to Winnipeg."
- The Free Press also featured Goldeyes catcher Raphael Pelletier's experience in haircutting that has transformed a corner of the clubhouse into a makeshift barber shop.
- WSPYNews.com heralded local Plano, Illinois, standout Brendan Roberts's pro debut with the Chicago Dogs on Tuesday. Roberts started game two of the doubleheader with Winnipeg, allowing two earned runs over 4 1/3 innings.
- Canaries entertainer John Gaskins joined Dakota News Now to discuss the Sioux falls Canaries' promotions including bobblehead giveaways and the team's final Kids Camp of the year.
- KTIV Ch. 4 in Sioux City profiled shortstop Nate Samson's outsized role in helping the X's become the first AAPB franchise to 1,000 wins.

- Friday's "Happy Gilmore Night" in Sioux Falls celebrates the 30th anniversary (!) year of the golf-themed classic film.
- Fargo-Moorhead hosts Minnesota State Moorhead Night at the Redhawks on Tuesday at Newman Outdoor Field, fortifying its partnership with the local Dragons, a member of NCAA Division II.
- Thursday is "Throwback Night" in Kane County, with the first 1500 fans pulling a throwback jersey courtesy of Country Financial and appearance by 11-year big leaguer Scott Podsednik.
- Winnipeg will also wear throwback Goldeyes jerseys on Thursday.
- Gary SouthShore and Winnipeg will host Sensory Awareness games on Sunday and Wednesday, respectively. Each event features a sensory-friendly, inclusive environment, specialty team jerseys up for auction, and community resource vendors.
- In that spirit, The Arc of Lincoln in partnership with The Autism Family Network is offering free tickets to the Saltdogs game on Friday at Haymarket Park. Tickets are FREE for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and their families.
- Friday is Kansas Swiftie Monarchs Night, with in-game Eras parade, friendship bracelet exchange and more, which Monarchs backers and fans of a certain pop start know "all too well."

About the American Association
The American Association of Professional Baseball (www.aabaseball.com) and (www.aabaseball.tv) is a Major League Baseball Partner League that operates in nine states and one Canadian province. The CAF Executive Committee ("EXCO") unanimously endorses the "Joint Update" by the FIFA President and Secretary General on the FIFA Forward Enterprise and will continue to focus on making African Football amongst the best in the world and adhering to governance and transparency global best practices.

The Confederation Africaine de Football ("CAF") today unanimously endorsed the "Joint Update" by the FIFA PresidentGianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom on the FIFA Forward Enterprise ("FFE").
CAF has taken note of the statements in the "Joint Update" that: "we acknowledge mistakes were made in the process of the proposed establishment of the FIFA Forward Enterprise ('FFE'). It was certainly not the intention for the FIFA Council and FIFA Member Associations to feel excluded from the process and it should have been handled differently. We sincerely apologise for these errors and commit to them not happening again. With this in mind, we will conduct a necessary review, and a report will be presented to the FIFA Council at its next scheduled meeting. Furthermore as already known, the proposal which would have been subject to the approval of the FIFA Member Associations and the FIFA Council, is now off the table. There are always lessons to be learned, and we will continue to improve our processes in light of this experience. In this instance however it is important to stress that although mistakes were made, everything that was done, was done in full compliance with the FIFA Regulatory Framework."
The President of CAF Dr Patrice Motsepe said: "CAF welcomes and endorses the "Joint Update" by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom. CAF will continue to focus on making African Football amongst the best in the world and is reaffirming its commitment to adhering to global governance, transparency and auditing best practices. For us in Africa, adherence to governance, due process and transparency is crucial and non-negotiable, as this is the practice and conduct we expect from our governments, business and other institutions and organisations. This is also the conduct that is expected from CAF. We are committed to continue working together with FIFA, its Member Associations, other Football Confederations and stakeholders to safeguard and adhere to governance, due process, and transparency global best practises and to contribute to the development and growth of Football worldwide. CAF will also continue to focus on developing our boys and girls football players, coaches and trainers, the National Teams of our 54 Member Associations and the amateur and professional leagues on the African Continent. Good progress is being made in discussions with our current and new sponsors, partners and investors to ensure that CAF continues to be financially self-supporting and independent and that stadiums and other Football infrastructure is constructed and upgraded. Progress is also being made in the preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations ("AFCON") Kenya Tanzania Uganda ("PAMOJA") and other CAF Competitions".
The CAF EXCO also unanimously reconfirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and thanked him for his support for African Football, over the years. President Infantino, the FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom and the FIFA Administration were also thanked for organizing a very successful FIFA World Cup 2026.
The quality of football at the TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations ('WAFCON') 2026, that is currently underway in Morocco, is very high and this competition has been a huge success.
